In this auction, I am a selling a
very rare Bugatti T51 hand made from
metal by J.P Fontenelle for Fine Art Models. The body is hand-hammered from
brass, with the engine and suspension made of cast and machined metal. The
seats are real leather and the steering wheel is real wood.
If you go to Fine Art Models
website, you can see that only 25 were ever made and when this was issued in
1999 the retail price was $9,500. In today's dollars that would be nearly
$40,000.
My Buy it Now is practically the
same as twenty years ago. and is lower than what an Amalgam would retail for,
and this one is handmade from metal in France, not digitized resin from China
made in editions of hundreds.
This is much rarer than the T35
by Fontenelle / Art Collection Auto that was made over the course of decades
and comes up on eBay a few times a year and sells in the $4,500-7,000 range.
This T51 was only made in 1999 and only in a limited edition
of 25. The model is, in fact, rarer than the real Bugatti T51.
My only collecting regrets are the models I missed out on,
because I did not pay that little bit more.
Don't live with regrets, you can always make more money, but
you can never make more time. Enjoy the things you love, while you have the
time.
23" long.
